Customer Reviews
Gave a $6000 deposit and 9 months later, still nothing. They went ghost. No solar, no generator, no refund, no response. Ghost 👻
They did a great job and their pricing was way more competitive than other major national solar installers. Happy with the service and install. The system has been running for the past 13 months without any issues.
**Update on my original 5 star review** I had a issue where the conduit line cracked, probably due to a freeze during the winter and water getting in the line. The system still works but I wanted TSO to come by and take a look. Maybe repair the cracked conduit line. I have emailed, called, emailed again, called, left voice mails and i have not heard from anyone. Are they even still in business. Very Frustrated.
**Update. Still have not heard anything.
What is the point in replying to our complaints online for horrible service and lies. You give us number to call and all you do is keep us on hold. What is the corporate office number. This company needs to be sued and closed down asap
Don’t walk away – run. The sales pitch was encouraging with typically quick turn around when I had questions prior to committing. Subsequent to my contract commitment and deposit, scheduling took longer than promised. The installation was a joke: they broke one irrigation pipe and my main water line in two places when trenching from the solar wall (rural installation) to my house. One of the breaks was right at the house where I pointed out the main in-line location. This resulted in dirt in the lines, which they didn’t address and I had to clean out. The whole team, except for one guy, seemed to know what they were doing and took the project seriously. Everyone else worked like this was their first or second installation.
As far as cosmetics, instead of optimizing the space below the solar wall, they covered a huge area on the side of our beautiful home with panels and conduits. The electrician was a chain smoker who left cigarette butts everywhere.
Our installation included 6400 Watts and one 10kWh battery, which during scoping and the price quote process we were told could always be expanded. After installation and not disclosed during the sales pitch was what a headache co-ops are with these systems. Unlike the popular sales pitches to urban/suburban areas about “turning your meter backwards” etc., our co-op charges us retail but buys back at wholesale, which is less than half retail. In addition, they charge something called a “plate charge”, which takes back about 30% of the payout from the co-op. For this reason, I asked Texas Solar to quote a second battery to store the extra energy rather than make the co-op rich. After many long delays, they gave me a quote for more than twice what I paid in my original purchase. I guess the job is too small for them so I am expected to “take it or leave it” despite the promise to be there if we needed to expand our system.
On a final note, I have been closely monitoring the solar panel generation, which also is digitally monitored by the battery manufacturer (the best part of this whole setup) and it is clear my panels are underperforming the advertised delivery, even on bright clear, direct, sunlit Texas summer days. Texas Solar simply will not respond.
Buyer beware with these folks. To reiterate don’t walk – run.
EDIT (15 March 2023) Since I cannot reply to the business response.
1) Most noteworthy and a true reflection of the company’s performance is the 6 months it took them to simply respond to my original review.
2) The company’s response is very misleading and suggests I requested work order changes during the installation. This absolutely is NOT true. My request for a second battery came after the complete and “paid in full” installation.
3) Two years had not passed between signing my original contract and my request for a quote on the second battery. It was closer to one year – and the majority of that time was the duration it took them to complete the job. A fraction of that year was the time it took me to evaluate performance and see how badly I was getting robbed by my coop. Full disclosure by TSO regarding how unfairly energy coops operate would have been useful prior to signing the contract.
Utterly useless company with the worst ‘customer service’. They took my call in early February 2022 and said they would contact Enphase to check things out. After three months and many calls to them nothing had happened, they were ‘still waiting’ and no-one had been sent out to check my system.
Finally I contact Enphase and within 1 day they sent me a new envoy communication box. I ended up getting remote support from another solar professional who helped me through the repair.
This company strings you along, doesn’t answer phone calls or voicemails and simply doesn’t get back to you. Don’t go with them and don’t call them. They give solar companies a bad name.
Very bad customer service. After agreeing to install Tesla powerwalls, they cancelled the agreement after a month and holding my deposit for more than 2 months. The person named Laura is very bad with communication. She should not be working there.
Awesome Service Cherry Bell answer all my questions.
Just spoke with one of their business leaders about a position. The response was refreshing. These guys are doing the right thing, the right way! Kudos!
I’ve been calling them since 4/30/2021 and got no response. Their installation was not sealed properly and caused a leak on my roof. I left several voice messages with no response.
The installation went well, but recently the follow up has been non existent. It seems the company is either out of business or is on its way to be out of business. I have tried contacting them for over a month including the owner but NO response.
My solar was installed by Texas Solar Outfitters, and worked great for two years, then stopped working two months ago to an inverter problem. Texas Solar Outfitters won’t even answer the phone anymore, and they don’t respond to voicemails. So I haven’t had working solar panels for two months now. The 25 year warranty is a joke if you can’t get service on the panels.
Edit: after getting back in contact with TSO they successfully resolved my issues and brought my monitoring equipment back online.
Hired Texas Solar Outfitters to design and rough-in for residential new construction project. Their team was helpful and informative on solar technologies (battery storage, etc.) in conjunction with alternative power sources (generators). Small issue with new construction (generator) rough-in and structural requirements, preferred independent licensed electrician who took out the original permit to take on the task of rough-in. But otherwise reliable and knowledgeable service.
I purchased 13 solar panels which were installed late July of last year (2019). The system functioned well, but several items were not taken care of as promised. One of the two main issues were having them trim some trees that caused shade over the panels. One gentlemen by the last name Thomas came to my house to evaluate the trimming and said he had “some guys” that would come out to take care of it. Well, it’s been over a year and they never came. Needless to say, I went ahead and paid out of pocket to have those trees trimmed. The second (and main) issue I am having now, or should I say, have been having for over six months, is that two of my panels are not registering power production. I have reached out repeatedly over the phone all summer, and conveniently, their phone lines are never answered and/or their voicemail is full and unable to take messages. I finally got in touch with one employee (Melissa) in late July who was very empathetic to my situation and she supposedly spoke with someone on the team but no one has ever bothered to return my call to send out a technician to evaluate the faulty panels.
The most frustrating thing about this experience with Texas Solar Outfitters is the lack of accountability and customer service. I am a citizen trying to do my part to help my environment only to be meet with what seems to be a scrupulous company veiled as a righteous environmental advocate. Beware of this last business practice of theirs. BEFORE they even turn on your system, you have to sign a document that states that ALL work was completed to your satisfaction. The quandary is how do you know all work is fully functional? I should have seen this coming. And yes, I have filed the pertinent complaint with the BBB. I will update as necessary.
I have solar issue-. I found this company on Google. I reach out and got respond from Melissa. She is really helpful and offers me a reasonable price to change my inverter. So far I am really happy with their services.
We decided to take the plunge and get solar. Given their great reviews (and their close proximity to our house), we made Texas Solar Outfitters our first call. Unfortunately, after calling five or six times (during business hours) across multiple days, leaving a voicemail, and sending an email, I never heard back from them. No one ever called me or emailed me back. Nothing.
From the other reviews, it sounds like if you can actually ever get in touch with anyone, perhaps they’re an OK choice. In any case – if they’re this unresponsive to someone potentially wanting to do thousands of dollars worth of new business with them in the first place, I’d hate to be one of their customers who have already signed up with them and then need to get in contact for any issues, etc.
We decided to go with Freedom Solar instead – I’ll separately write a review for those folks once everything is installed, but I’ll say this: Freedom Solar actually answered the phone, were immediately helpful, sent a solar consultant out within a couple of days to discuss options and have been fantastically responsive/helpful, which is light years above and beyond what I can say for Texas Solar Outfitters.
We originally signed a contract with Adaptive Solar. They disappeared on us after we purchased equipment for their plan. TSO agreed to jump in am execute the plan with the materials we had bought. They were excellent to work with, and resolved some vexing permitting issues and equipment issues that were entirely the fault of our original contractor. Highly recommend!
Great experience. You deal with one person throughout the entire process. They beat every date they quoted. Very helpful throughout the entire process and answered all questions so even I could understand. The install crew came and finished in one day and cleaned up very well. The install looks great. The system works very well so far (about a week). I’m very happy with the results.
Had the system for 2 months now and I already have a substantial credit with my service provider. The performance has exceeded what was quoted by at least 10%. Loving it.
Non stop telemarketing calls! I will never use this company and I will tell as many people as I can not to use Texas Solar Outfitters.
