Detailed review

YellowLite is a renewable energy company specializing in residential and commercial solar installations1. Their team specializes in grid-connected, stand-alone, and hybrid photovoltaic systems. They are based out of Cleveland, OH, and have expanded to both residential and commercial markets, currently serving the Midwest region including Ohio, Michigan, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana, and New York.

YellowLite was established in 2009. After years of experience working with the solar leading technology distributors, the top executives decided to launch their own venture with a vision to preserve the environment by making solar energy more accessible to the masses1.

Since YellowLite’s inception, their core mission has stayed the same i.e., to design and install solar energy systems for both commercial and residential consumers. They are committed to getting solar energy into the mainstream as an alternative to non-renewable energy sources that are badly damaging our environment.

Positive Reviews

“I had several estimates for my solar project and ended up with Yellowlite. They were very informative and prompt on answering any questions anytime. Also wanted to stay with a local business. So many other solar companies are not even based in my area. Yellowlite is the way to go and will be referred. Thank You Yellowlite for making this project carefree of any issues from day one to the finish line.”1

“Of the four quotes (one outside of EnergySage), YellowLite was the best system in terms of energy generation, as well as least expensive by a wide (about 20K) margin. The installation crew were very efficient and professional, as were all the folks who were involved in the project planning, surveys and service initiation.”

“We chose YellowLite because they provided the best price per kilowatt of the companies we looked at. They were responsive to our many questions and concerns, and did the install faster than expected, with a little help from mother nature and a warm winter. The install went smooth, even with us on vacation during the final connection.”

Negative Reviews

“No support of projects post ‘completion’. I contracted Yellow lite in 2020 to install a larger grid-tied commercial solar array on the roof of my single-story building after bidding the project to multiple contractors. Yellowlite was very responsive, provided good information and assurances of future support. During their initial site inspection, it was noted that the roof was dated and would need replacement/repair in the next 5 years; to which the team member (BILAL SAEED) informed me that this was no issue with the solar system, we would simply contact them and arrange to have the panels removed while work was completed and that they would then set them back up. This was in fact essential to maintain the labor and parts warrantees that were included with the initial installation. Fast-forward 3 years; It required 2 weeks to get a response back from Yellowlite to my service request to have the system moved for work and later installed. I contacted by phone (call center), email, and through the website. The reply back from JESSE VARNER was: “I apologize for the delay while I’ve been out of office helping in the field. We’re currently focusing on helping folks get their systems installed before the end of the year, so the soonest we’re scheduling system removals like this would be the spring. You are welcome to pursue other companies in the meantime, or you can reach us again in the spring for a quote if you’re still interested in our assistance.” Through further communications, he confirmed that 1) this service is NOT included in any of the previous agreements, 2) anyone else doing the work would void Yellowlite’s warrantees.”

“Communication was spotty before project installation, but things really took off from there and I honestly cannot recommend YellowLite highly enough. Installation took less than one day. The SolarEdge app lets you see exactly what your system is generating every hour of every day.”
