We couldn’t be more please with the attentiveness and thoroughness we received from the sales representative Brendan Rappoport. He explained everything to us in detail and answered all our questions we had. Rooftop contractors were knowledgeable in surveying our roof and attic. We couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome, especially having NO electric bill!

Thank you Rooftop we highly recommend your expertise.

Reviews

Positive Reviews

  1. “Very skeptical at first probably like everyone else. The sales team with Dylan, answered all my questions from the actual solar panels and equipment to the service and warranty I would expect. He was outstanding knowledgeable and readily available for my many calls. As for the team the electricians Ray and Jarret went the extra mile for panel placement, conduit hidden very well wiring in the attic on a hot day. Both extremely knowledgeable for many more questions. The roofers Jason and Juan were neat did a fantastic job and I am pleased with the appearance. 6 hours installed perfectly. Unfortunately the slowest process waiting for RI Energy to change out my meter. I would highly recommend RTP over anyone else. They truly are a team.”
  2. “Major error early on ROOFTOP was able to secure insurance funds to replace my roof. However, due to some glitches in the office, the roof shingles were put on without the needed plywood subsurface I reported that the shingles were looking very poorly and ROOFTOP came out to repair, not believing what I thought needed to be done, which was to replace the roof, but once they realize that the shingles were installed without the sub plywood base, it was quickly corrected. Other than that they’re an excellent company.”
  3. “I can’t say enough about the service from Rooftop Power. They were very professional and courteous throughout the entire process. They tell you what to expect during each phase, and they take care of all the leg work.”

Negative Reviews

  1. “Very slow in execution Do not hire rooftop power company to install solar unless you have a written agreement to complete in negotiated time. They are poor in communicating with customer unless they want something. Project has stated 15 months ago and still not in production.”
  2. “Rooftop Power has received mixed reviews regarding their customer service and installation procedure. A few clients spoke well about them, praising their knowledgeable staff and timely installation. Other clients complained of delayed installations, difficulties obtaining permits, and incomplete equipment activations.”
  3. “Customers have said the firm can be trusted, the employees are helpful and informed, and the rates are fair. On the downside, consumers have voiced dissatisfaction with the length of service waits and the lack of information provided to them during such periods.”

Payment & Financing Options

  1. Solar Loans: These loans fund the purchase and installation of solar panels. Interest rates on solar loans generally range from 4% to 7% but can go up to around 36%.
  2. Lease or Power Purchase Agreement (PPA): In this case, a third-party (like Rooftop Power) owns and maintains your system. You pay a fixed monthly amount to the solar company, which is typically lower than your current electricity bill. This allows you to benefit from solar power without the upfront cost of purchasing the system.
  3. Cash: If you have the funds available, you can pay for your solar system upfront. This option can save you money in the long run as you won’t have to pay interest on a loan.

Our Expert Recommendation

With a strong commitment to sustainability and customer education, Rooftop Power has established itself as a leader in the local market. Here’s our take on why Rooftop Power stands out as one of the best solar companies in the state.

What We Liked

  1. Local Expertise: One of the standout features of Rooftop Power is their local expertise. They understand the local market, including rebates, incentives, local weather, building requirements, and other processes that ensure a timely and quality install. This local knowledge is invaluable when it comes to navigating the complexities of solar installation.
  2. Comprehensive Services: Rooftop Power offers a full turnkey solar installation service for nearly any residential property. They also provide solar energy solutions for businesses, covering everything from the initial consultation to post-installation monitoring and repairs.
  3. Positive Customer Reviews: Customer reviews on SolarReviews.com and Reddit are generally positive. Customers praised the company for their professionalism, quality of installation, and excellent customer service. One Reddit user even mentioned how Rooftop Power stepped in to correct mistakes made by another company.

What We Didn’t Like

  1. Limited State Availability: Currently, Rooftop Power only operates in Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. If you’re outside of these states, you won’t be able to avail their services.
  2. Slow Execution: Some customers on Reddit and SolarReviews.com complained about slow execution and poor communication. One customer mentioned that their project started 15 months ago and was still not in production.
  3. Lack of Transparency: Some customers felt that they were not given complete information about the solar rebate process. This led to some confusion and dissatisfaction.

Our Recommendation

Based on our research and customer reviews, we would recommend Rooftop Power to those living in their service areas. Their local expertise, comprehensive services, and positive customer reviews make them a strong choice for anyone considering solar energy. However, potential customers should be aware of the complaints regarding slow execution and lack of transparency. As always, we recommend doing your own research and getting multiple quotes before making a decision.

In conclusion, Rooftop Power is a shining example of a local solar company doing right by its customers and the environment. They have some areas to improve upon, but their commitment to providing quality solar installations and excellent customer service is clear. If you’re in Rhode Island, Connecticut, or Massachusetts and considering going solar, Rooftop Power is definitely worth a look.

We rate solar installers from 1 to 5 stars to help you pick the best one. High stars mean they're really good at what they do and treat their customers right. Low stars? Not so much. We give credit to companies that have been around for a while, know what they are doing, have a high standard of workmanship and equipment, don’t hire subcontractors to keep the bar of solar installation quality high and have good local reviews from real customers (yes, we check if the reviews are actually real or fake). Companies we choose as top-rated know and can help with federal and local solar incentives to help you save, have good financing plans, and guarantee their work. We're here to point you to the solar companies that truly rock, making going solar easy and worthwhile for you.
