I’ve now had our solar panels from Brooklyn SolarWorks in place for 3 years. Since that time, all my initial worries about required maintenance and other issues related this technology have been assuaged. It’s thrilling to get monthly electricity bills that include only the cost of being on the grid ($20) and also to receive tax credits for now the third year. The installation went smoothly, the team was incredibly helpful and patient in explaining everything, and I am delighted to be a participating citizen in the battle against climate change.

Delight to work with them to get my solar installation up and running. It’s been up for more than 5 years and it’s producing the power they predicted and we anticipated! Competent and customer centered.

Working with Brooklyn SolarWorks was a smooth and straightforward process. Their quote was competetive with other companies I talked to, but their overall customer service was far better. I had a dedicated representative from the beginning of the project through the end. They explained what would happen at each stage and then that’s exactly what happened.

The installation itself went very quickly (after we had to reschedule due to icy conditions). I ended up with a random inspection from NYSERDA and the inspector said BSW had done excellent work (and that he rarely sees major problems with their work, which isn’t the case with other installers).

Start to end it was about 5 months, and I’m thrilled to be generating my full electrical usage.

Having solar panels installed on our roof in Greenpoint was by far the easiest part of our gut renovation. Brooklyn Solar handled everything, and whenever I had a question they were right there with the answer.

The people at Brooklyn SolarWorks are smart and professional. Exactly what you need when looking for solar panel installation. They were able to assess the roof quality, dona quick and affordable installation, and train us on how to monitor our energy use and production. When it came to troubleshooting an issue with our wireless service they were quick and creative with a solve. If you’re debating between different installation firms would definitely recommend them for customer service alone.

From start to finish the experience with Brooklyn Solar was a pleasure. Their expertise made it easy and honestly, how many times can you say that in the course of a major home project?!? I recommend them without hesitation… and that electric bill is looking better with each passing month! Thank you team!

They said they’d get the install done in 2 days, but completed it in one. They said I’d cover 80% of my electrical needs but I’m getting close to 100%. They helped solve an issue with getting tax credits from the city. Great service. I’m very happy to have solar power.

Brooklyn Solar handled my switch to solar from assessing my needs, to estimate, to financing, to installation, inspections, etc. They went above and beyond to get my system up and running fast, and were professional and courteous at every step. Love em.❤️

After shopping around for Solar, Brooklyn Solarworks was clearly a step above their competitors. From the beginning of the process all project documentation was clear and concise. This made the project very smooth even though there are many other factors for NYC solar (tax credits, abatements, permits, etc.)

Highly recommend for any flat roof NYC homeowners that want to go solar.

I started enquiring about solar panels formy house in the fall of 2022 and began working with Sean at Brooklyn Solar. I was given excellent information as to the entire process from application to necessary reviews and approvals. The installation was completed in April of 2023. All went smoothly and by the summer my electric bills were down around $26. The clincher this past month was that my tax benefits for 2023 were exactly as I was told they would be.

Little glitch, December was very cloudy and my bill reflected that lack but by March, all was back to my new normal charge.

Spam calling email and physical mailing me for years. Just called them back after a spam call getting hung up on both times when asking yet again to be removed from the list?! If the owner of BKSW reads this whoever answered the line needs to go! Do not call me 🤙🏻 stop harassing people.

Very glad that we added solar, even in a regulatory environment as uphill as NYC, and very very glad we did it with Brooklyn Solarworks. All of our touchpoints were easy: knew the price and output of the system from the very beginning, installation was an easy two days, and the system has functioned flawlessly for two years. The “hardest” part was BSW trying to design a system that would be approved by the DOB- the city added a lot more back and forth than would be necessary. But BSW handled all that with aplomb. Going solar with BSW has been easy and profitable.

Choosing to go with Brooklyn Solar works was one of the best decisions we made. The team was so fantastic, working with us to ensure we purchased a system that we could 1) afford and 2) supported our electrical needs. They diligently explained the nuances of various options along with the tax credits and incentives to ensure we understood the costs completely. The communication was great from start to finish and we’re so happy that we are able to produce enough electricity for our home!

Brooklyn Solar Works did a great job on our brownstone in East Harlem. They handled all of the paperwork needed to get building permits and tax credits. Their installation crew was efficient. We have had the system in place for the past year and a half with no problems. After installing a split system, our monthly energy bill is $20 (the cost of renting the meter from Con Edison)

We love Brooklyn Solar Works! They installed solar panels on our flat roof about 5 years ago and it was so simple and painless. They figured out all the tax rebates etc, got everything set and then installation took one single day and was not disruptive at all. We had one tiny issue months later and they came the next day to fix it. We’ve otherwise required no maintenance and had no problems with our system. They really have the Brooklyn flat roof solar thing down. Would highly recommend.

Our Expert Recommendation

Brooklyn SolarWorks has carved out a unique niche in the solar industry, focusing on the specific needs and challenges of installing solar systems in urban environments, particularly in Brooklyn and Queens. This hyper-local focus, combined with their commitment to customer service and quality, sets them apart from many other solar installers.

One of the key strengths of Brooklyn SolarWorks is their customer service. They have received high praise from customers for their professionalism, efficiency, and attention to detail. Customers appreciate their transparent proposals, responsiveness to questions, and their ability to complete installations within the promised time frame. This level of customer satisfaction is reflected in their high average rating of 4.56 based on 13 reviews.

In terms of equipment, Brooklyn SolarWorks uses top-tier 400W LG and REC panels, and SMA inverters, ensuring high-quality and efficient solar installations. They also offer a proprietary solar canopy, which allows them to navigate the fire code restrictions on brownstones and townhouses. This innovative approach demonstrates their adaptability and commitment to overcoming the unique challenges of urban solar installations.

Brooklyn SolarWorks also stands out for their comprehensive warranty. All their solar systems come with an industry-leading 30-year warranty that covers all aspects of the system, including the panels and inverter. This provides customers with peace of mind and confidence in the longevity of their investment.

However, like any company, Brooklyn SolarWorks has its limitations. Their services are primarily limited to New York City, particularly Brooklyn and Queens. While this allows them to provide specialized and localized service, it does limit their reach compared to other solar installers that operate in multiple states or nationwide.

In terms of industry standards, solar installers are required to adhere to various standards for the design and installation of solar and battery storage systems. These include AS 4509 for stand-alone power systems, AS/NZS 5033 for the installation of photovoltaic (PV) arrays, and AS/NZS 5139:2019 for the safety of battery systems for use with power conversion equipment. Brooklyn SolarWorks’ adherence to these standards is not explicitly mentioned in the sources I found, but given their high customer satisfaction and reputation in the industry, it is reasonable to assume that they meet these standards.

Brooklyn SolarWorks is a standout solar installer in the urban environment of New York City. Their focus on customer service, quality equipment, innovative solutions, and comprehensive warranty make them a strong choice for urban homeowners looking to go solar. However, potential customers outside of their service area will need to look elsewhere. As always, we recommend doing your own research and getting multiple quotes before deciding on a solar installer. But based on the available information and customer reviews, Brooklyn SolarWorks comes highly recommended for those in their service area.

We rate solar installers from 1 to 5 stars to help you pick the best one. High stars mean they're really good at what they do and treat their customers right. Low stars? Not so much. We give credit to companies that have been around for a while, know what they are doing, have a high standard of workmanship and equipment, don’t hire subcontractors to keep the bar of solar installation quality high and have good local reviews from real customers (yes, we check if the reviews are actually real or fake). Companies we choose as top-rated know and can help with federal and local solar incentives to help you save, have good financing plans, and guarantee their work. We're here to point you to the solar companies that truly rock, making going solar easy and worthwhile for you.
