Reroofed with the Ameco team. Price was fair. Value was very good. They did not over sell me and explained all the options thoroughly. They handled permitting expeditiously, and their crews were good and cleaned up after themselves.

Our experience with Ameco Solar was very good and my wife and I highly recommend them as an honest, reputable and experienced residential solar company.
Note that the only reason for 4 vs. 5 stars is because I am admittedly a very exacting person who does much of my own home projects. The other minor issue is the multiple number of contacts/pass-offs that occur as the project progresses. This is the normal way that Ameco does their business (each contact has specific responsibilities–contract, planning, installation, utility application, etc.), so expect to interact with 4-5 different people from start to finish.
Despite unavoidable delays due to weather and the 10 week backlog of final approvals at our utility, SCE, for final approval, Ameco kept us in the loop and worked with us throughout the process and got their work done on schedule. Our system is now up and running without issue and performs to our expectation. The mobile app that allows us to monitor current and past system performance is very user friendly and the responses from Ameco and Enphase (the micro inverter supplier and App developer) to any questions or reporting issues have been addressed promptly.
From the initial evaluation and bid from Michael K., we knew Ameco was the solar installer we were going to use vs our previous solar bidders.
Everything was explained with no sales pressure or complicated lease/financing structures. Their price per installed kW was the lowest of our four bids and the simplicity of the contract (i.e. purchase or finance with no complicated lease structures, PPAs, embedded maintenance contracts) was reassuring. When looking at a solar system, you should always consider the worst-case scenario that the solar provider/installer you pick might not survive the 20-30 year life of the system you get. An installer’s warranty is only good if they are around to honor it.
Ameco has its own strong warranties, a long history (since 1974) in this business and overwhelmingly positive reviews, but we were reassured knowing that the solar panels, micro inverters and inverter communication systems they installed had strong stand-alone manufacturers warranties on parts, labor and performance. Furthermore, we were very happy to know that Ameco was a certified installer of our panels—qualifying them for the manufacturer’s premium 25-year parts, labor and performance warranty.
While there were some minor issues with final detail work with respect to some of the installation work, Ameco responded promptly to my small punch-list of “touch ups”.
All-in-all, from initial contact to final installation and final system integration into the utility, Ameco is a professional, reputable, experienced company with a great track record. If nothing else, throw them in your mix of bids and hopefully they will win you over like they did us.
