And they told me I have to use the solar panels one year see can reduce the energy on contract or not if not they will add more panels after one year I called they tell me they can’t put because of contract they use word system will offset last 12 months of usage. Start one year before I sign the contract. But my house is new I not have one year before energy bills. If anyone looking for a solar company try open your eyes. My bills not lower higher than before.”1

The wiring in my breaker box was not correct and had to have someone come fix it because several strands of the power cable were cut out at the connector. I had the panels insured on my previous policy due to a previous company submitting for a WPI-8 certification. I live in an area, Brazoria County, where it is required to be able to insure them. My insurance is up for renewal, and I find out I can not renew my Texas Windstorm insurance due to my $64k investment that is mounted to my roof. From my insurance agent “no unfortunately TWIA has a strict eligibility requirement that any alterations or additions to the home are required to be wind certified for program eligibility. It’s not a matter of just whether they would insure the panels, they want an engineer to confirm the alteration did not compromise the structure in any way, so they require a WPI8/WPI2 just to be eligible for their program.” It took 3 days to get ahold of someone in the office to speak to. After finally speaking with the office manager, I was told it would be taken care of and they would get the certificate. She told me it would be started on Monday. Fast forward to Friday, a week later, and the permit person in the office tells me that she can send me the plans and photos and the number of an engineering firm to get it done, that it is my problem now. They say because I don’t live in an area where a permit is required for the work that the wind storm certificate was not done and is not their problem. This is regardless of the insurance requirements. I have obtained the number for the district manager and one of the owners. After talking to one of the owners, I was told that he would speak with “upper management”, but the customer should know the requirements for the area and what is needed and that if I wanted to be able to keep insuring my home. This is the last day I have to do something with my insurance and the last word I received from them is “We can facilitate the inspection but will not cover the cost.” If I could go back I would have stayed with the first company who understood the requirements for my area.”
